It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved founder, Beryl Henderson on 1 January 2025.

Beryl’s story is one of vision, determination, and a profound love for gardening. She dreamed of a new kind of garden centre – a place that would transform the urban gardening experience. A space filled with quality plants grown by specialist growers and supported by friendly, knowledgeable staff.

In 1999, while standing in a derelict button factory, Beryl made the bold decision to bring her vision to life.  This became North One Garden Centre – a truly life-enhancing garden centre in the heart of London. In 2011, Beryl embraced her next challenge when she discovered a site beneath the railway arches of Ravenscourt Park tube station. This is where she created West Six Garden Centre, expanding her dream to a new community.

Beryl’s passion and dedication to creating welcoming, inspiring spaces for all gardeners – from beginners to experts – continue to guide us today.

We remain committed to upholding the values that Beryl instilled: offering the highest-quality plants, providing knowledgeable and friendly customer service, and creating inspiring, beautiful garden centres that make urban gardening accessible and enjoyable for all.

Thank you for your continued support of North One and West Six Garden Centres. We will forever preserve the incredible legacy of our founder, Beryl Henderson, and her vision will continue to be actively carried forward by her family and her garden centre teams.

Best wishes

Paul & Louise
